Week 3. Classical Argument Outline

1. The introduction

I will start by explaining the situation that cyberculture takes important part in our life in Korea, especially internet anonymity. Then I will shift attention to that internet anonymity is not always bad and it has benefits. I will end with my thesis, "Internet anonymity is needed in Korea."

2. The narration

I will give explanation that constitutional court gave a verdict that internet anonymity is unconstitutional. I will give some explanation of anonymity before internet and argue that anonymity is not something which was invented with the internet.

3. The confirmation

I will start by explaining how I will categorize the reasons why internet anonymity is needed in Korea. I will give explanation that internet anonymity is needed in Korea in constitutional way. I will suggest that internet anonymity is needed in Korea because it is matched with society of Korea.

4. The refutation and concession

I will concede that there are some side-effects of internet anonymity. However, the benefits of internet anonymity are more remarkable than the side-effects. I will give study that internet anonymity is not effective.

5. The summation

I will close with the mention that internet anonymity is helpful to freedom of expression. I will end with a reaffirmation of my thesis.

Week 3. Articulation

1) My argument
I want to argue that the internet anonymity is needed in Korea. People said that internet anonymity is harmful to korean society so we can not accept internet society. I want to say that internet anonymity not only has side effects but also beneficial points.

2) How I found my argument Explain how your research helped you find your argument. Or, in other words, how did your research evolve into your argument? Start with your research question.

My first research question was, when will my cellphone be smarter than my brain? It seems reasonable that eventually, as technology continues developing, our hand held devices will be smarter than our head held ones (Our brain). This article helped corroborate that theory. As I continued researching, it seemed obvious that everyone agreed that we were moving to a world where eventually humans would not be as smart as computers. I thought if I wrote an article saying the same thing, it would be boring. I started looking at the opposite perspective. How smart are people now? How amazing are our brains right now? Articles like this one helped me quantify the real power of our brain. Eventually I realized that even though neuroscientists think our brain is at its limits, it is still the most powerful tool out there. I think this is a fresh and interesting argument to make.

I wanted to find a topic related with 'The internet and Hieronymous Bosch : fear, protection, and liberty in cyberspace'. I thought about liberty in cyberspace should be

3) New research questions What do you still need to know? What is your research plan?
I have several questions that need to be resolved.
a) How can I compare the brain to a modern computer?
b) What areas are the brain objectively and obviously better at than computers?
c) What are the moral implications of possessing the most powerful "thought" apparatus in the world?
I'll continue browsing the internet and looking for interesting articles and keeping track of my research with blog posts.

4) Connections to the Harvard Sampler
This argument has connection to the Harvard Sampler. It is directly connected to 'The Internet and Hieronymus Bosch: Fear, Protection, and Liverty in Cyberspace'.

Week 2. Research Proposal

What is my current topic?
I want to research about internet anonymity in Korea. Internet anonymity has been a hot issue in worldwide. In Korea, there are also many arguments about internet anonymity.

*What are my guiding questions?
Is internet anonymity needed in Korea? Is internet anonymity good?

What are my current thoughts?
I already know that real-name ID system(online name verification) was found unconstitutional. Korea government put emphasis on the freedom of expression(freedom of speech and publication). I think internet anonymity is needed in Korea, but we should have regulation on it. I want to persuade people who think interent anonymity just has bad points.

What is the opposition?
My opponents will say that internet anonymity has so many problems and suggest example of side effects of interenet anonymity. I also think internet anonymity has some problems and its damage is so powerful,
